Sunday Victors in Idre Fjäll, Geilo: Eric, Ingrid, Elvira, and Lucas

The second day of season openers in Idre Fjäll and Geilo saw all new faces atop the podium with Eric Perrot, Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold, Elvira Oeberg, and Lucas Fratzscher getting victories.

Perrot Buries Mass Start Field: “a really good race for me”

Eric Perrot took the lead in the first loop of the Norwegian Season Opener Mass Start 60 in Geilo and never relinquished it, shooting clean for the second consecutive day, cruising to a 37:39.7 victory. “It was a really good race for me. I am really proud of my shooting. I tried to be the best on the track too, get the opportunity to shoot well and go back first.” As for the upcoming World Cup opener in Oestersund, “I feel ready…Now I feel I have everything I need to be ready for the World Cup.”

Teammate Emilien Jacquelin finished second, despite three penalties, 8.8 seconds back, battling Martin Uldal in third with two penalties, 11.2 seconds back. Sivert Bakken, also with two penalties finished fourth, 20.8 seconds back. Vetle Sjaastad Christiansen and Johannes Dale-Skjevdal finished fifth and sixth, 24.2 and 32.7 seconds back, each with three penalties.

Tandrevold Wins Geilo Mass Start

Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold came to the final standing stage of this afternoon’s Norwegian Season Opener Mass Start in 7th, 25 seconds back, but shot clean, pulling away on the last loop for a 36:51.4 victory. Tandrevold admitted it was not an easy day, “I am always so nervous in these races at the beginning of the season, so it was nice to win. I am so proud of Ragnhild who managed to shoot clean with all of the pressure of trying to make it to the World Cup.”

Ragnhild Femsteinevik shot clean in second place, 15.3 seconds back after leading for much of the competition. Dorothea Wierer, with two penalties, finished third, 22.9 seconds back. Anne De Besche shot clean in fourth, 35 seconds back, followed by Lotte Lie, with one penalty and Anastasiya Kuzmina, with two penalties, 1:01.3 back.

Elvira Wins Second Idre Sprint

Elvira Oeberg easily overpowered the field in the second Swedish Premiere Sprint at Idre Fjäll, just as Hanna did on Saturday. Elvira was her most brilliant self on the tracks and confidently shot clean for a 20:42.7 win. Janina Hettich-Walz in second missed two standing shots, 1:00.8 back. Saturday’s winner Hanna Oeberg had a penalty in prone and standing, finishing third, 1:02.1 back. Lisa Vittozzi, also with two penalties finished fourth,1:03.1 back. Anna Magnusson, with one penalty and clean-shooting Emma Nilsson finished fifth and sixth, 1:06.3 and 1:32.5 back.

Germans Sweep Second Idre Sprint Podium

Lucas Fratzscher led teammates David Zobel and Johannes Kuehn to a podium sweep in the second Swedish Premiere Men’s Sprint. After missing the podium on Saturday, Fratzscher topped the podium with a one penalty day in 24:03.9, finishing a mere 1.7 second ahead of Zobel, with two penalties. Kuehn also missed twice, 22.4 seconds back. Martin Ponsiluoma finished fourth with four penalties, 24.1 seconds back ahead of Simon Kaiser and Danilo Reithmueller, 38.9 and 39.3 seconds back. Saturday’s winner Sebastian Samuelsson’s four standing penalties put him in seventh place, but still only 42 seconds back.
