The European Youth Olympic Festivals took place this week in the Italian region of Friuli Venezia Giulia. The future biathlon stars competed in sprints, pursuits and mixed relay.
Men’s sprint winner comes from Slovenia as Pavel Trojer took home the win despite one miss in the standing. Jakub Potoniec (POL) shot clean and secured second place ahead of French Jadicael Perrillat Bottonet. The Individual was Trojer show as he won with a margin of 1:31. Second place went to Michal Adamov (SVK) who started only with bib 13. Third place went to Guillaume Poirot (FRA).
The women’s sprint winner was Oleksandra Merkushyna from Ukraine. She won ahead of Lola Bugeaud (FRA) and Ilona Plechacova (CZE). The Indivdual was a tight competition but in the end it was Julia Tannheimer (GER) who skied to the win ahead of Voldiya Galmace Paulin (FRA). Merkushyna took the bronze medal.
On Saturday morning the Mixed Relay wrapped up the week in Forni Avoltri – France beat Germany in a tight battle with home team Italy securing bronze in the last event of the week.
