Vote for your Athlete of the Week: Holmenkollen 2026

The last weekend of biathlon season 2025-2026 offered the perfect amount of finish-line drama, fast shootings and team celebrations. This week was the week of underdogs as they reached career bests. Which one of these four biathletes is your Athlete of the Week from Holmenkollen?

Margie Freed (USA) got into a good groove already in Otepaa as she scored a historic third place in the mixed relay. This weekend, her flight continues as she came in 13th in the sprint, which was her career best. This also secured her the career first place in the mass start.

Gaetan Paturel (FRA) had a great season in the IBU Cup as he finished it as the total score winner. This gave him a spot in the World Cup finale, and he did not miss the opportunity to show what he's got. He shot clean in the pursuit and went from 32nd to 10th.

Lena Repinc (SLO) also reached her career best in the pursuit. She finished 17th in the sprint but put on an extra gear for the Saturday race and scored the best position to day, 13th.

Rihards Lozbers (LAT) didn't only celebrate his 17th birthday this weekend. The young Latvian biathlete finished 21st in the sprint and 28th in the pursuit, which are his best efforts in the World Cup. With Sunday's mass start, he wrote history as the youngest male athlete to start in the discipline.
