Building the Future of Biathlon & Para Biathlon in Antholz-Anterselva

From 8–14 June 2026, Antholz-Anterselva welcomed 138 participants from 23 National Federations for the IBU Youth International and Para Biathlon Camp 2026, bringing together the next generation of biathletes and para biathletes at one of the sport's most iconic venues.

Hosted at the Südtirol Arena, a venue for the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games, the camp offered young athletes the chance to train and learn in an Olympic environment.

The programme combined roller skiing, shooting and physical preparation with educational sessions, including an Anti-Doping workshop delivered by the Biathlon Integrity Unit (BIU) and an Olympic Values presentation by former Italian Olympian and World Cup winner Dominik Windisch. A dedicated Para Biathlon programme further highlighted the IBU's commitment to inclusion and showcased the strength of the biathlon family.

A highlight of the week was an evening with Italian biathlon star Dorothea Wierer. During an engaging question-and-answer session, athletes had the opportunity to hear first-hand about her journey through the sport and gain valuable insights from one of biathlon's most successful athletes.

The high level of the participants created a motivating training environment throughout the week, with many athletes already competing at international Youth and Junior level.

"I think this is a great opportunity. Training in an Olympic venue alongside athletes from many different countries is both inspiring and motivating. It is also a valuable chance to learn from highly qualified IBU coaches and benefit from their experience and expertise." — Markus Sklenárik (SVK), 2026 Youth World Championships Sprint Gold Medallist and Gangwon 2024 Youth Olympic bronze medallist

The camp concluded with a friendly competition followed by a barbecue, allowing participants to celebrate a successful week of learning, friendship and international exchange.

The IBU would like to express its sincere gratitude to the Antholz-Anterselva Organising Committee, whose dedication and commitment were instrumental to the success of the camp. The outstanding facilities, hospitality and support provided throughout the week created an ideal environment for learning, development and international exchange.

Special thanks also go to the instructional team of Luca Bormolini, Carlos Lannes, Dominik Windisch, Karin Oberhofer, Sara Ponya, Harald Egger, Nika Blazenic, Eileen Carey, Tomi-Pekka Riihivuori, Michal Roth and Simon Allanson, whose expertise, enthusiasm and professionalism helped create an exceptional experience for all participants.

As the athletes return home, they do so with improved skills, greater knowledge and new friendships that extend far beyond national borders.

Most importantly, they leave as part of a growing global biathlon community, united by a shared passion for the sport and inspired by the opportunities that lie ahead.
