Win for Laura Dahlmeier in Kontiolahti Pursuit; First World Cup Total Score Title, Crystal Globe
Germany’s Laura Dahlmeier, with just a single penalty on a windy afternoon, won for the 10th time this season taking the women's 10K pursuit, in 29:54.4. The German star's win wrapped up the World Cup Total Score title and the big Crystal Globe. France’s Marie Dorin Habert, with two penalties was second, 16.5 seconds back. Italy’s Lisa Vittozzi, with one penalty, had her first career podium in third, 19.9 seconds back.
Darya Domracheva of Belarus, despite three penalties challenged Vittozzi for third, but finished fourth just missing the podium by two seconds. Slovakia’s Paulina Fialkova shot clean to finish fifth, 23.9 seconds back. Lisa Theresa Hauser, also went 20-for-20 in sixth place, 27.8 seconds back.
Sprint winner Eckhoff starting first, cleaned the two prone stages, holding he lead the first three loops, until four penalties in the first standing dropped her from contention. Dahlmeier took the lead cleaned and took the lead at that point, followed by Dorin Habert and Koukalová , making an impressive comeback from 13th at the start.

In the final standing Dahlmeier cleaned while Dorin Habert picked up one penalty and Koukalova two. With Dahlmeier’s win secure, the battle was now for the other two podium spots. Dorin Habert skiing in second position, was followed by Vittozzi. Domracheva, in seventh, after cleaning the last standing, went after the Italian, closing the gap from 13 seconds back . However, Vittozzi held on in the final meters, for third place and her first podium.
World Cup Total Score, Crystal Globe to Dahlmeier
Dahlmeier commented on her day, “It was a really great race for me. I felt a bit tired on the uphill sections, but I think everybody feels tired after the long journey.”
The German star commented on winning the seasonal title. “It’s really amazing, it is such a special moment for me. I would not have expected it in the beginning of the season. I did not see it coming already in KontiolahtiI have not looked at the Total Score, and now the TV told me about this. “
She admitted the pressure is off.“I have no pressure, I can just enjoy the races and have a great time.”
Dorin Habert Back on Podium
Dorin Habert was satisfied. “I am very happy about the race. My last podium was in January, I think it is too far. She added, “On the track, yesterday’s race was very slippery. Today was a bit slower, but you could ski and push better.”
Vittozzi: "Goal to Shoot Clean"
Vittozzi was the happiest person on the podium, “Yes, today it was unexpected for me. I am so happy to be on the podium.” Her main focus was shooting. “For me the goal was to shoot well, I tried to do my best and I am happy.”
