Ten Thousand Kilometers from Home
A land of open plains, immense deserts and great horsemen, Mongolia is not known as a great biathlon nation. The sport disappeared in the country after important political changes in 1990 and started to rebuild again step-by-step only in 2014-15. As proof of their newfound dedication to biathlon, at the start of the season, the team sent three drivers to transport their equipment by van to all the way to Norway from Mongolia; a 10,000km trip that lasted 13 days!
They are still far from the level of the great biathlon nations, but their ambitions are growing. The team’s aim is to bring biathlon back to Mongolia. Discover more in our new video, “Ten Thousand Kilometers Away”.
