Gabriela Koukalová to miss Pyeongchang Olympic Winter Games
During a press conference this afternoon, Czech Biathlon Union President Jiří Hamza announced that Gabriela Koukalová will miss the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang.
"[Her] health conditions do not allow her full training and the problems continue. It has been decided that Koukalová will miss this entire season. The decision was not easy and we spoke to her and her coach," Hamza said on biathlon.cz, adding that Koukalová will be undergoing treatment.
"Tried to do My Best"
The two-time Olympic medalist has struggled with calf and leg issues since summer, was unable to follow her off-season training regimen or compete during the first half of the 2017-18 BMW IBU World Cup Season.
"I tried to do my best to return but during the training there were a lot of problems. I'm so sorry that I cannot compete at the Olympic Winter Games since they are a highlight for every sportsman," the 2017 IBU Sprint World Champion said.
