Lisa Theresa Hauser has quickly become the face of the Austrian women’s team with her quick jump from junior star to World Cup contender. She won two Bronze medals in her first international season as a youth at the IBU YJWCH, but the next year as a junior, she won Silver and Bronze at those same Championships at Obertilliach in her native Austria. In her final junior season, she won two more YJWCH medals, but that was not the biggest thrill that season. That came when she was selected for the Sochi Olympic Winter Games and finished ninth in the mixed relay with teammates, Katharina Innerhofer, Simon Eder and Dominik Landertinger. Last season, the now 22-year-old came into her own, consistently finishing in the top 15 in individual competitions, getting her first World Cup podium 2nd in the Canmore single mixed relay and finishing 15th in the World Cup Total Score. She prepared for the new season in a small training group led by her long-time coach Sandra Flunger and Alfred Eder, with a focus on the 2017 IBU WCH in Hochfilzen, her home stadium. She had a fast start to the new season with another single mixed relay podium and three top 6 results in World Cup 1 at Östersund. Her biggest strength in biathlon is consistently reliable shooting, hitting 90% of her shots last season. In her spare time, Hauser likes to spend time with friends, read, go to the cinema and play cards with her teammates.
